- Subject: [Sphenix-run-l] Update from Tuesday, October 3, 2023 RHIC Coordination Meeting
- Date: Wed, 4 Oct 2023 06:16:49 -0600
Below is a short summary from the meeting sent out by Wolfram Fischer (Chair of C-AD).
All,
a short summary of what we discussed today:
1. sPHENIX can run with a crossing angle in p+p implication: electron lenses will not be needed, freeing cryo and PS personnel to concentrate on valve box/DX repair
2. preparation for p+Au only after all p+p and Au+Au issues are addressed
implication: sPHENIX crossing angle in p+Au will be limited to 1 mrad without DX trim PS upgrade, freeing PS personnel;
should the opportunity arise all DX magnets will need to be moved during the run
3. no decision yet on Au+Au first (issue: 56 MHz verification), middle (issue: ~1 week reduced p+p performance), or last (issue: heat load)
4. Collider projections need to be updated
5. The meeting presentations shall move to an indico site
