Below are two messages, one about Access Control tests in 1008 this weekend and the other one about the snow tomorrow 😊
From: Carroll, Daniel <dcarroll AT bnl.gov>
This weekend, Saturday and Sunday mornings from 7:00am until noon, Access Controls will begin annual recertification of our systems at 8:oo (sPHENIX region). Most work on these days will take place in the “wings”, 7Z1 and 8Z2, but there may also be work performed in the IR, 8Z1.
Be aware that we will be going through ALL modes during certification, including NO ACCESS mode 24, which WILL cause beam imminent alarms (lights and horns) to be activated intermittently across the entire sector, all three zones.
We do not anticipate performing any ODH testing this weekend, but the possibility always exists that ODH alarms may be activated while testing.

Accumulating Snow Expected Friday, 1/19 – Watch for Slippery Conditions On Site
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for all of Long Island from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, with snow expected to fall throughout the day. Two to three inches of snow accumulation is forecast for the Lab site at this time. Following the storm, temperatures will remain below freezing with wind chills in the single digits for Saturday into Sunday.
You should expect slippery conditions across the site. Wear proper footwear, watch for slippery areas, drive carefully, remove snow accumulation from your vehicle before driving, be aware of your surroundings, and avoid potential hazards when walking and driving. Use extra caution when exiting your vehicle as parking lots may be slippery.
Ice melt is available in buckets at building entrances and may be used by anyone. If an unsafe condition has potential to cause an immediate danger to anyone on site, call Ext. 2222. From a cell phone, dial 631-344-2222. If you see something unsafe relating to your facility or building that is not an emergency, contact the Facility Operations Center at Ext. 2468.
If there are any changes to the Lab's operating status due to weather, a message will be sent to all staff via broadcast email, the Everbridge notification system, and posted to the external home page at http://www.bnl.gov. You can also check the INFO line (631 344-INFO) for the Lab's current operating status.
Information about the Laboratory's processes for closing and reopening the site can be found at https://www.bnl.gov/newsroom/news.php?a=221650 (VPN may be required).
