  spectacle! The Lab is hosting a solar eclipse gathering\, and you're invi
 ted to join your colleagues Monday\, April 8\, 2:30 - 4 p.m. in Brookhaven
  Square Park (weather permitting) for an afternoon under the cosmos. This 
 is not just an opportunity to experience the awe of the eclipse but a chan
 ce to come together\, share\, and celebrate our collective curiosity and e
 nthusiasm for science and nature.\n\n\n\nAll Lab employees and their homem
 ade viewing creations or equipment are welcome. Stakeholder Relations will
  provide solar eclipse glasses for safe viewing and a festive decorated su
 gar cookie.\n\n\n\nUpton\, New York\, will be in 90.4% totality of the ecl
 ipse at 3:27 p.m. Such a near-total eclipse is a rare occurrence\, with th
 e next chance to see anything close in New York not until 2079.\n\n\n\nSho
 w off your creative side by bringing your own eclipse-viewing inventions. 
 You can bring a lawn chair for a comfortable viewing experience on the gra
 ss\, too.\n\n\n\nFor Those Not On Site\n\nIf you can't join us at Brookhav
 en Square Park you can still participate by sending photos of your eclipse
  viewing experience to Joe Gettler (gettler AT bnl.gov<mailto:gettler AT bnl.gov
 >). Your submissions could be featured in a follow-up article.\n\n\n\nSafe
 ty\n\nRemember\, safety is paramount when experiencing an eclipse:\n\n• 
           Choose a safe location and remain stationary during the event.\n

  such as eclipse glasses or viewers.\n\n•           If using optical dev
 ices\, ensure they are equipped with a solar filter.\n\n\n\nThis event pro
