Hello All,
sPHENIX has been collecting a very large data sample over the holiday weekend.
We are now tracking data taking efficiency and I have a couple of proposals for discussion tomorrow (and it would be great if people come prepared to the SCM). No action will be taken without expert approval.
1. Leave MVTX, INTT, TPOT on during polarization measurements and during "steering STAR" into collisions. We would just stop or even pause the run, and then be right back to data taking. Note that this is how PHENIX operated and how STAR operates (they do not turn the detectors off or into safe mode). This would provide a significant improvement in data taking efficiency.
2. We have discussed a bit today with Aki how to have one larger button for turning on INTT LV -- again, no decisions today, but something for the INTT group to work on tomorrow. Overall the Detector Operator Station has 7 large monitors with lots of information. We need to separate all that information from the clear buttons for standard turning on / turning off procedures (to streamline things and avoid mistakes -- which are currently easy to make).
3. The MVTX is essentially having errors / issues every long run. Best practice to discuss this tomorrow and come up with a plan regarding mitigation and shift instructions.

Jamie and Virginia
