Hi Everyone
In the post shift change meeting on MVTX, I got myself a home work of checking out what happens if a high energy ion hits MVTX sensor plane. That is to find out the mystery of MVTX dropout event which Cameron found contain a narrow core plus a comet of busy
hits around it.

The simulation of Au ion hitting MVTX can be reproduced with
https://github.com/blackcathj/macros/blob/AuOnMVTX/detectors/sPHENIX/Fun4All_G4_sPHENIX.C
The analysis notebook with the interactive plots can be found at
https://nbviewer.org/github/blackcathj/macros/blob/6d1c9c37/detectors/sPHENIX/Analysis.ipynb
I believe it qualitatively reproduce the narrow core + a comet of hits on MVTX upset events as Cameron observed in data.
Note in this simulation, Au ion is placed outside the beam pipe at z=-30cm and carries beam energy. However, in reality it probably originate from within the beam pipe and has to passing through the Al beam flange. It is harder to find a shower core aligning
with MVTX sensor plane in simulation if the simulation starts from within beam pipe. Nonetheless, welcome to try updating the above macro to give a try.
Cheers
Jin
PS: some interactive plot in
