Hi All,
With apologies for the delay, here are the minutes from this week’s meeting.
Regards,
Ron
The current work plan is for MVTX installation, followed by the MBD and sEPD frame (as discussed previously, all frame parts already at the lab). The VESDA system mounts to the sEPD frame, so this is essential to sPHENIX operations. Xometry deliveries are starting to come in—expecting a few small shipments of small parts like mounting pieces for the strongback as well as SiPM box parts, some of which John already has, and the strong back plates, which will come in a large package. The plates will need to be flatness checked on a granite table (in the Lenz lab) but the assembly can be done on an ordinary table, like whatever is available in the high bay. We want the assembly to start as soon as possible to make sure that the clips work correctly.
For the CEM order, the Lehigh group still needs to sort the SiPMs into lots by approximate gain match before sending them to CEM for assembly into SiPM boards. Eric already has some of the preamps and interface boards in his lab, so testing on these can and should begin very soon.
The cables—meritc, slow controls, and pulse—have been held up by the need for label tape. Once that’s resolved we should be ready to test and then route cables. The MBD cables are being bundled and are expected to be laid soon, and the plan is to route sEPD cables as soon as the MBD cables are done. The route will be adjusted or extenders will be used if we find the cables are not long enough for the planned routing—the routing cannot be changed at this point.
Cosmics testing continues, with 4-5 sectors being completed every two days. So far there are 10 good, 1 bad, 1 broken (s20), 1 with a serious crack (s19), 13+2 not yet tested, and 2 with analysis ongoing (this is likely already out of date since JaeBeom has been working so quickly—an addendum is welcome).

The commissioning workfest is this week. Dennis has been doing work on the centrality determination. Dennis, Rosi, and JaeBeom got together yesterday (Tuesday) to discuss the STAR code and see what can be reused. Dennis, JaeBeom, and Ejiro are going to work on the calibration and online monitoring.
