Hi Chris (and EPDers),
We discussed the panel screws, but I didn't mention another key component for the optical connection, which are the alignment pins that keep the scintillator and connector lined up appropriately. They are at BNL with the panel screws, and should normally live as part of the optical fibers. I did not have them put into the fibers for the install as I was a little worried about them being knocked loose when the cables were being dressed. I'll send you some lines for the work plan regarding these and the panel screws. Since Tristan is now the world's expert after having to install and install the STAR EPD 3 (4 times? I lost track) this year, is there anything else besides the panel screws, alignment pins and blackout tape that we need to have on hand for the connection?
Maybe it would be good to have a brief meeting after the shift change meeting on Tuesday to make sure we're all on the same page. I will be there in person by that point.
Cheers,
Rosi
