I have attached  a drawing that incorporates new Z envelopes for the intermediate tracker. First you will notice the envelope for the TPC detector with R going from 20 to 78.0cm and a  Z length of 211.0 cm. This drawing shows both the Alice inner tracker along with Tony’s proposed Z length for the intermediate tracker. On the right side you see how these four layers would need to be extended along Z  to match a radial line from the acceptance end on the Alice inner tracker sensors to the outer radial point of the TPC. In this drawing the acceptance covers the
TPC for all tracks that can be seen by the ALICE ITC.

The second drawing shows Tony’s  proposed Z lengths for the Intermediate tracker, this is based on sensors that are 12.0 mm in length (Z). Covering the TPC acceptance for tracks staring at Z=0.
