Hi Zhenyu,
It is good if we can connect a spare IST module, if that is working.
However the ARM can work fine without APV chips too, and I can make it make dummy data too if needed, so I think for just checking the ARM backend, ARC-II, crate, DDL, and DAQ software we don't need a frontend. That's the way we should start - but then if all is ready plugging in a frontend will be good as a second step.

Hi Gerard, Tonko,

Gerard’s numbers look correct to me. We don’t have detector modules connected
to the ARMs now. In order to take data and examine the status of ARCs and
ARMs, I guess we need to connect our spare IST modules and test the ARMs
one-by-one. Is this the plan?

Best,
Zhenyu

hi Tonko,
Almost. Your channel counts are correct as far as I know (Except you
meant 36864 = 288*128.) However, the APV's will be organized as 8 per group
instead of 12 per group, owing to the detector/frontend configuration. So
there will be 36 groups, which will be read out with 6 crate segments (6 ARC)
and 3 ARM per crate segment with 2 cable groups per ARM (as usual). 6 ARC, 18
ARM in total.
For sure I hope to test the readout during the summer, and we should
coordinate on that. September sounds fine to me.

Hello,
I'm iterating through the readout/DAQ requirements for FST.
From previous discussions this is what I have:
1) 3 ARM/ARC crates
2) 2 ARCs per crate (total 6)
3) 2 ARMs per ARC (or 4 per crate, 12 in total)
4) 36854 channels all-in-all
Are these number still correct??
Perhaps in September I will try to power-up the relevant
ARC/ARM crates in STAR as well as the DAQ PCs and
see if we can take data with the above geometry.
Thoughts?
