Minutes:
Attendees: Elke, Flemming, Han-Sheng, Maowu, Prithwish, Te-Chuan, Xu, Yi, Yu,
Zhenyu
1. Mechanical structures - Yi
Received two sets of assembled hybrids today. They look fine by eye. One set
is from the old vendor, while the other is from the new vendor. Because
Jianing did not give the new vendors specification on the thickness of the
hybrid, the hybrids from the new vendor are thicker than the ones from the
old vendors. Yi will try to measure the thickness of both.
AIDC is working on assembling the inner and outer parts for two mechanical
structures that are made of pure PEEK. They will be glued on Wednesday and
cured under room temperature for 1 week. They will then glue the hybrids onto
the mechanical structures. The latter will take about 4 hours. AIDC has or
will measure the surface flatness before and after each step. Yi will ask
them to identify the reference points in the measurements.
EASTON is trying to improve the surface flatness by heating the mechanical
structures. It seems that the flatness can be reduced to 150 microns by doing
so.
Yi looks into compatibility tests of soft tubes with NOVEC. Expect to have a
set up ready by the first week of Feb.
Also looked into thermal simulation and comparison with actual measurement.
The agreement has been improved after including missing materials in the
simulation, and place the thermometers closer to the heat sources. Will give
a detailed report in two weeks.
Storage boxes for prototypes: Yi will try both 3D printing using plastics,
and machine shop using Aluminum. Xu will check the location of the wedge in
the storage box to see if there is a need to move.
2. Assembly at Fermilab - Zhenyu
UIC machine shop has made all the assembly fixtures and tooling. Fermilab
will examine them to see if they meet the specification. Will meet Fermilab
engineers and technician this Friday to go through the assembly procedure and
traveler.
3. FST GEAT modeling - Te-Chuan/Flemming
Flemming made a couple of changes to the FST AgML model that Te-Chuan has
produced. He will meet Jason later this week to implement it in CVS
4. UIC Test stand - Xu/Andres
Presented design for cosmic ray and laser test stands.
Requested to have a few extra parts from BNL. Flemming will check with Mike
and provide them
