Schebs et al. --

Seeing this topic alive on this thread, and hearing nothing back
from my more private message on the subject, I append my comments
below (w/ drawing attached) in case they are useful in the discussion.

Thanks,
-- Will j.

PS: also, I had dug up all the old PRO-E based EEMC mechanical drawings
in response to Scheb's request and wondered if they were needed or of
use.

Looking at the attached drawing (thanks again for sending it)

a) it looks like the forward mounting points are the existing
tee mounts (I can't recall how many of these there are 4?
or 6?) ... these are what the EPD already attaches to (and
we also use them for attaching the beam line protection
platform for work directly over the beam pipe area during
maintenance. The sTGC support structure seems to bolt radially
into the tee mount block.

b) as you know, the area at this radius of the inner pole
tip has lots of EEMC cooling hoses coming/going to the manifolds
located beneath the three dual-electronics crate mounts ...
you encountered this when designing and fitting in the EPD
to "coexist" with the existing hose routing. Will the
sTGC support structure allow the same integration? Are the
thick blue (in diagram) support pieces actually "tabs"
that bolt to the tee mount block, or is this a continuous
structure in azimuth. If the latter, I can imagine it would
interfere with lots of the present hose routing, prevent access
to the quick release at the manifold, etc. What is the
plan there? Regarding access, EEMC maintenance likely has
to take place when the sTDC is installed (and also undergoing
testing), hence the access questions. Even when in running
mode, access may be needed in case of leaks, air pockets, etc.

If a major re-route of cooling hoses is necessary, this is
a significant job, as they mostly have minimal length for
their generally torturous paths among the EEMC "boxes"
and cables, and hence many would likely have to be ripped
out and replaced (I hope not).

c) for the more interior support of the sTGC structure I see
bolts going radially into the EEMC inner radius. I believe
this is mainly EEMC support cone structure in here, but these
are new holes, right? I guess it is ok but one needs to be careful
what one is drilling into (where, how deep, etc.) ... info that
should be available in the machine drawing we are discussing on
a separate thread.

Thanks,
-- Will j.
