*** Action items from previous weeks ***
1) Design light-tight box for the DAQ integration test at BNL - Rahul/Xu
-> Xu sent Rahul the drawings he has. Elke raised a question about the
manpower demand on STSG. Flemming will take a look and discuss with Rahul how
to proceed.
2) Discuss how to mount modules onto the half-rings, and half-rings onto
support structure - Rahul/Yi
-> Rahul/Yi had a meeting last Tuesday. Rahul did not fully understand how to
mount modules, and will have another meeting after tomorrow's forward
meeting. NCKU will modify guide pin areas (details in discussion). Zhenyu
reminded that no interference/modification should be introduced to the
Fermilab module assembly jigs.
3) Document the procedure and requirements of gluing hybrids onto MS for Plan
A at NTU - Yi
-> No update on the (80% complete) document from last meeting.
4) Look into radiation tolerance test of soft cooling tubes at STAR/Taiwan -
Yi
-> students working on it. Finished analyzing data for one sample, and will
finish the analysis for the second sample this week. Have to send another
sample to the radiation facility. Final results in two weeks.
5) BNL send a T-board and cable assembly to NCKU to check if there is any
conflict with the MS - Mike
-> Mike dropped it off, but was not picked up by the delivery service yet.
6) Looking into alternative clustering algorithm to improve matching
efficiency - Xu/Zhenyu
-> See below
7) Tune timing setting for ADC sampling - Xu/Gerard
8) Studying the tracking performance by varying the Z-locations of FST disks,
and number of r/phi segments - Daniel
-> Daniel integrated FST fast simulator into his tracking study setup, which
now uses hit collection from StEvent.
-> Daniel also solved the issue that Krishan had in his study. In the
previous version of the tracking code, the covariant matrix of hit errors
were input in several places of the tracking code, and not all places were
updated when the number of r/phi segments were varied. This explains why no
change was seen when the numbers were varied by Krishan. After the above
mentioned update, the hits are now read out centrality from StEvent which
also resolved the issue. Expect to have the correct results in 2-3 days.
-> Discussion ongoing with Jason: to have a detailed detector module in
simulation, and a simplified version in reconstruction. Probably ready in the
next 1-2 weeks.
9) Looking into FST simulation and track reconstruction to compare 300 vs 500
micron thick sensors - Shenghui
-> Shenghui realized that her definition of primary/secondary particles,
which was based on isShower flag, is problematic. She is trying to find the
correct way to do so in the code.
-> got in touch with Jason to get his help to make the material budget plot
for FST.
10) Post code that used to analyze the simulation data and Flemming will take
a look - Shenghui/Flemming
-> Flemming will send some comments to Shenghui later.
1. Integration - Rahul/Felix
-> Continues working on the design of installation structures, communicating
with machine shop, making changes based on inputs from machine shop.
-> Will continue the discussion with Yi on pinning (see above)
2. Prototype performance test- Xu
-> Xu presented final results of clustering studies from outer FST sensor.
-> Gavin/Shenghui will work on put the measured detection efficiency and
residual distribution into FST simulator and study the tracking performance
in STAR MC simulation.
3. Mechanical structure - Yi
-> Sent a bare module with hybrid mounted last Friday, which will be
delivered to Fermilab today. To solder the components, NCKU engineer used
soldering wire with 220 degree C melting temperature and a high power
soldering machine.
-> Another bare module with hybrid may be ready for shipment to Fermilab on
June 30.
-> Discussed with Jianing on change ground path to reduce the thermal
conductivity and thus make it easier to solder on the components.
4. STAR internal review
-> briefly discussed what were needed for the review and when. Will continue
the discussion offline
