Dear OPS MGT and task force,We are officially approved to install the new fixed targets at STAR. There might be a slight shift in terms of the exact starting date for the beam pipe related work due to key person’s schedule. Rahul will send out an updated schedule accordingly to the ops list. Thanks everyone who helped. Happy holidays!LijuanFrom: Gao, Haiyan <hgao AT bnl.gov>

Subject: FXT program readinessHi Haiyan,We made good progress since our meeting last week. We received target material early this week. Bill Struble, our mechanical technician machined all the targets, sent the carbon targets (1 mm and 2.5 mm thick) to CAD group (Dan Weiss) for the test.Dan basically put the targets in the same environment as in the real FXT run for one hour, and sent them back to STAR for inspections. Rahul Sharma, JH Lee and myself all looked at those targets and concluded both 1 mm and 2.5 mm thick carbon targets are fine. STAR will go with 1 mm thick carbon target.Attached is the picture showing the dummy target holder and targets.Rahul Sharma had further discussion with Dan Weiss and STAR forward silicon group and they would like to get the beam pipe work done earlier if we can get official approval. They would like to start the work around Dec 27 rather than Jan 5.Is it possible to get an official approval before Dec 27?Lijuan
