Dear Gene and Ben,

Many thanks for the followup.
For the six runs that I mentioned yesterday, on slides 7 & 9 (21238004-009), I also did not spot anything notably different except the <DCA>.

I was looking at Kaifeng's slides and I see that for track QA's, there are track cuts taken on Nhitsdedx and nhitsfit >=15.
For the <DCA> runbyrun QA that I presented yesterday, I did not apply any such track cuts, but I tried to check runbyrun <DCA> with such track cuts applied. The runbyrun, <DCA> with such track cuts applied shows a rather smooth trend and no jumps are observed. (pdf attached )

I think Ben might also be applying some track level cuts, as my <DCA> values with the track cuts applied are similar to the mean of the DCA distributions which Ben attached in the previous email.

This, I believe, could be the cause of the observation from the follow ups.

Thanks a lot,
Best regards,
Ashish

Hi Gene,

Just to follow up again, I did look at the DCA distributions in my QA and they similarly do not show anything significantly different from any other runs. I'm attaching some plots of the primary track DCA for a few runs, 2 are within this anomalous string of runs, one is from later in the same day, and the last is from a few days prior. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference.
Additionally, it's important to recognize that the spike in your plot is only about 0.04cm (0.4mm). This is an incredibly small deviation.

Hi, all

A follow-up on the item that Ashish noted 6 runs as having notably different <DCA> on slides 7 & 9 (21238004-009). His plot, vs. run index, is attached below.

I'm also attaching a plot from the Offline QA automatic reference comparison ("AutoQA") of the quantitative result of the Kolmogorov comparisons of the signed DCA distribution to a fixed reference, versus time the data was acquired [GMT]. One should observe a change in this value if the comparison to a reference changes notably. These runs were taken at roughly 2020-08-25 06:00 GMT, plus or minus an hour, which is ~5/8ths of the way from the left edge of this plot to the right edge. One can see that anything going on with the signed DCA at that time wasn't notable compared to other variations in the signed DCA.

So, like Ben, I'm not spotting anything extraordinary for these 6 runs, and I'm even looking at the DCAs.

Ashsih, maybe you can point us to the code you use to determine the <DCA>.

Thanks,
-Gene
