Hello Kaifeng

Thanks for the additional check. I would have hoped that the ranking cut can significantly reduce the background, but it does not seem to be the case. We will need to work harder offline in order to select clean events.

Hi Ting and Rongrong,

Thanks for your comments, that make sense, and also resubmit the job with ranking > 0 cut, the statistic in Vz distribution is a little lower and the peaks are still there, please find the Vz distribution plot with ranking and shifted |Vz-VpdVz| cut in the attachment

Hi Rongrong and Kaifeng:

For 23066068, I think we discussed this during the meeting. As Chenliang found that  "Some picoDst root files in RCF show a problem: no keys recovered, file has been made a Zombie. Can not gain access to these files." and Gene confirmed that it seems there were jobs completed with errors during the production.

Best,

Ting

Hello Rongrong,

Thanks for your nice suggestions and explanations, I quickly checked the log file for the jobs yesterday, and I find for run 23066068, when reading the root.file, there are some warnings or errors for each run 23066068 related root.file, the warning is "probably not closed, trying to recover, no keys recovered, file has been made a Zombie", and the error is "failed to read the file type data", also please find the specific plots in the attachment.

Best regards,
Kaifeng

Hello Kaifeng

Thanks for the additional information and the second check. It is clear that cutting on VpdVz-Vz alone is not sufficient to cleanly select the triggered collisions. One can probably try applying ranking>0 cut to further suppress the background.

I can find quite some files for run 23066068 using your command "ls /star/data[01][0129]/reco/production_pp500_2022/ReversedFullField/dev/2022/066/23066068/*picoDst.root". Maybe you can try again?

For the missing MTD-TPC matching in run 23069015, it is because only tracks passing a NHitsDedx cut are propagated to MTD for matching. For this run, all the tracks have 0 NHitsDedx values, and therefore there is MTD-TPC matching despite of normal numbers of MTD hits and tracks present in the run.

Hello Rongrong,

I usually use this command to get the file list: find /star/data[01][0129]/reco/production_pp500_2022/ReversedFullField/dev/2022/ -type f -name "st_physics_*.picoDst.root", this command will find all the st_physics* for production_pp500_2022 in path /star/data09-12, if there is any other path I missed, please kindly let me know, and I also update the file list on Sunday, and the run 23066068 is still an empty run, and checked the <refmult> for run 23069015, it seems normal, also using the shifted |Vz-VpdVz| to get the new Vz distribution, and please find the specific plots in this link: https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/system/files/20220311_pp_500GeV_Mtd_Vz_check_v2.pdf

Hello Kaifeng

Thanks very much for the followup studies.

Since the VpdVz-Vz peak position is shifted to the negative side by about 5 cm, I think it is better to cut on |VpdVz-Vz+5| < 3 or < 5 cm. Nevertheless, your cut is also fine for our purpose of checking the TpcVz distribution with increased signal-to-background ratio, and we do see that the distribution is closer to what one would expect. The two peak structure still exists, probably due to the remaining background events.

For 23066068, the RunLog says it is a good run. Not sure why you could not get any events. Maybe the fast offline jobs failed? For 23069015, do you analyze all events in st_physics? Do you see normal track multiplicities in this run?

主题: Re: [STAR-QAboard] QA Board Meeting March 11

Hi all:

A brief minutes for today's meeting:
https://drupal.star.bnl.gov/STAR/comp/qa/pwg-qa/run-22-qa

For Run-22 offline QA:
From Lanny Ray:
1). Run 23064046 decreased number of hits in Sector 9, anode/RDO 6 for both st_fwd and st_physics; but hit density is not affected. -> Gain for the RDO is less. RDO-6 for this run is masked out for future offline analysis.
2). Run 23066075: bad BTOW pedestals Gene discussed this with Navagyan Ghimire who reviewed the pedestal upload history. From the QA shift report: Pedestals for BEMC were reset for runs 23066073, 23066074, 23066075, and 23066076. Those runs will likely not be usable for analyses. -> This may have impact in BEMC vertex finding, need to check in the offline analysis if they are good to use.
3). Runs 23066068 and 23069015 MTD – TPC track matching was anomalous with a very high peak at 0.

From PWG groups:
Cold QCD:
1). For day 061 (Idx [0-14]), the FCS chain options were included and that lead to problems with the MuDst files. The FCS chain options were out for the other days.
2). Still seeing very low nTCan and nTZero。
3). Slightly higher EemcTwrMult

LF:
1). Some picoDst root files (23066068) in RCF show a problem: no keys recovered, file has been made a Zombie. Can not gain access to these files.
-> 5 jobs complete without errors, but others have errors, Gene will follow this up.

BulkCorr
1). Continue to see double TPC Vz peak.
2). TPC Vz - VPD Vz = 5cm

HF:
1). A laser run 23066046 has large deviation in VpdVz, Vz-VpdVz, VpdHitEast/West, primary Vertex (x,y,z), primary track eta, mtdDeltaZ
2). Do not have electron candidates in 23066004~23066082 (33 runs, many short runs);
3). Need to check MTD Hits plot, MTD matched hits plots for Runs 23066068 and 23069015 MTD issues seen by Lanny.

JetCorr
1). 23066032 only has 2 files in the offline production.
-> Some issues about iTPC bad channels fail the production.

Best,
Ting
