Hi Yuri,
What you are monitoring is the TPC currents, not the voltages; This explains what you see, but in many, most is not all, case it should not affect you analyzes. What happens at least in two runs, and this does indeed happen many times every run period. On system goes dead (could be TPC could be some other system, so no events are recorded (gating grid stays closed as no triggers sho up thus the current drops to 0 , NOT the voltage.
So once the system is dead the operator stops the runs after a short time (up to many minutes depending on their alertness.
So you are correct if I understand you correctly, you cannot use the average current throughout the start-stop time. The average would also be disturb by 100% dead through the runs e.g. during auto recoveries of TPC or TOF e.g.
