Dear Institutional Contacts:

I am following up on the email that was sent to you regarding updating the EPO plan. There is still a majority of you that have not updated your plan, particularly with the numbers. This is an action item on NSF’s list to be completed before funding which is on track for April 1. If Mark Kruse cannot update the plan, it puts the timely funding at risk – I have a call scheduled with Mark Coles (NSF) who is pushing very hard on this. PLEASE respond ASAP to Mark Kruse – we need you help on this.

Thanks, Mike

Dear All,

First, I hope you are all doing well and coping as best you can in our new reality.

Many thanks to those who have responded to this request, however, we still need 80% of you to do so.

To make it easier, I have attached a new version of the document in which for your MREFC activties descriptions

(starting on page 23) I have added a table for you fill out. Please send me these estimates as soon as possible.

I have also edited/removed parts of some descriptions based on the guidance and explicit requests from Mark Coles at NSF.

Please review this and send me any updates to properly reflect your planned MREFC activities and the student numbers involved.

For some institutions we do not yet have any descriptions of MREFC work.

I will include your updates and numbers over the next few days, and we will send the updated document to

Mark Coles next week.

Thanks very much for your help with this, and please forward to other members of your groups as appropriate.

Cheers,

            Mark and Mike

Dear NSF MREFC Institutional reps,

(and if I have the wrong contact please let me know and forward to the correct person)

Mark Coles at NSF is requesting some further details for our EPO (Education and Public Outreach) plan.

We attach the latest draft, which he would like to be final within the week!

First, please check your entry in Table 1 on page 10 and send me any corrections.

Second, in Appendix B starting on page 23 Mark Coles only wants work that will be done and will involve students (UG and grad),

and to remove the descriptions of all past EPO activities not relevant to the MREFC proposal.

So please send us the following as soon as you can:

 * Descriptions of the work that will involve students (or an update to your Appendix B entry).

 * your latest best estimates of the numbers of undergraduate, graduate, and high-school (when applicable) students that will work

with you during the FY20 - FY25 years. These numbers will be used to get more accurate and up-to-date estimates of the numbers per FY

listed in the table on page 4 (and to include FY20 as requested).

I understand that for this summer things are very much up in the air, and I wish everyone the best in coping with our new and rapidly

developing situation. If you have estimates for this summer please also include those with a statement of how you currently see restrictions

at your institution and elsewhere affecting your plans, with the understanding that this could further change at any moment.

Thanks very much for your help with this, and best wishes for negotiating the coming weeks and months.

Cheers,

             Mark Kruse

             Mike Tuts
