Hi Tom,

Can I ask how the NSF wants to use this information?  They would like to go through each variance report, by month, and see how COVID accruals track?  What accuracy are they looking for here?

NSF already goes through each variance report by month.

Variance and corrective action tracking is part of the normal EVMS process. As far as COVID accruals go, if we ever want to do the COVID rebaseline, we better be able to explain the story in detail. I expect we'll end up writing "COVID BOEs" for all deliverables.

Also, for task dependencies - we should go through every task in the RLS (current to future) and somehow mark how dependent they are on external institutions, etc.?  Is this for a simulation?

Yes. But this is easy - only few tasks depend on external factors: they're vendor deliveries and required items from international collaborators.

Just want to understand the motivation here.  This is a lot of work.

The task dependencies is very little work. Probably less than an hour per deliverable. The variance report stuff is probably one day per deliverable. I don't think this is a lot of work if you want to receive a few million $$ of taxpayer money.

Best,

Gustaaf

Thanks,
Tom

Hello all,

A couple of requests:

-please send the VR tracking sheets you prepared for the director's
review; we'll want to go over them together but it may be useful for us
to start with email feedback.

-please start making a list of all the tasks with external dependencies
in your schedule.  This includes tasks where you depend on
international
collaborators as well as tasks where you depend on vendors.  It is
likely these will be the major source of covid-induced delays going
forward.  Please have this ready by July 1st.

Thanks,

Gustaaf
