Dear NSF L2s and Deputy L2s:

A friendly reminder that we'll have an NSF risk workshop during next week's CCB meeting on Tuesday, November 1:

https://indico.bnl.gov/event/17376/

Please prepare slides presenting any proposed changes (see previous email for details) and (after the meeting) send an updated version of the risk registers (excel spreadsheets) with your changes highlighted.

Be sure to check both the standard risk register and supply-chain risk register, available in docDB here:

https://atlas-hllhc.docdb.bnl.gov/0001/000196/090/Risk-Register_v73.xlsx
https://atlas-hllhc.docdb.bnl.gov/0001/000196/090/Risk-Register_Supply-Chain_v6.xlsx

Thanks!
Chris

Subject: Quarterly NSF Risk Review

Dear NSF L2s and Deputy L2s,

(Apologies if you got a different version a few weeks back; some if not all of the people on the list didn't get it, so please use the updated information below.)

We propose to hold our quarterly NSF risk review during the CCB meeting time slot on Tuesday, November 1. We will cover all systems in one meeting (~10 min per subsystem):

As usual, please prepare a few slides covering:
  • Changes in risks since the last risk review (especially those that can be retired);
  • Updated task affected (to make sure it remains something in the future) as well as clear descriptions of what to do in case of multiple tasks affected (rare);
  • Last updated fields (it was noticed at a recent review that some "last updated" fields are in the future);
  • Update comments to clearly describe how the cost/duration uncertainties are arrived at;
  • Potential changes to risks in the next 3 months, e.g.:
  • changes to probability/impact of existing risks;
  • existing risks that could be realized or that need to be watched carefully;
  • introduction of new risks, or even just speaking to the things that are worrying you these days;
  • risks that might be retired;
This is also an opportunity for general housekeeping of the RR, e.g., updating anticipated risk retirement dates.
The current standard risk register in docDB is v73, and the supply chain risk register is v6:

Please look over both for this review. After the review, please send me an updated version of the excel spreadsheet with your changes highlighted.

Any issues, please let us know.
