Hi all,

We have put together some example text describing the justification for the NSF Scope Opportunity items that you are creating to add to the NSF Scope Contingency and Opportunity log (docdb #969). This text gives you some options to describe these activities that do *not* imply that we're moving them from Operations to the MREFC. Please use this wording when writing your Impact Statements.

The necessity of doing extensive integration work after US deliverables are installed in their final locations in ATLAS is a substantial risk. This type of risk occurred in the Phase-I NSW and TDAQ upgrade systems, leading to long delays in the inclusion of these systems in ATLAS data-taking. In order to reduce such risks for the HL-LHC deliverables, we are proposing to increase integration testing of US deliverables on the surface before their installation, where production deliverables can be tested with external components.
