Hey All,

Do we need to wait for the low Q2 samples to be run through the full simulation? I have a pure Pythia6 MC sample (almost min-bias 10^-5 < Q2 < 1000) I’ve been using for my studies. One could look to the currently available full simulations to study how tracking momentum resolutions and efficiencies affect the PID, but then scale the results by the e/hadron ratios obtained from the Pythia6 MC. This way we don’t have to wait for a production or worry about a lack of statistics in whatever phase space region as simply generating the MC is basically free.

I’m I out to lunch on this?

Thanks.

Brian

Hi Elke,

thank you for the comment. Indeed the scattered electron cuts are driven directly by the simulation. It would definitely be great to have a look at lower Q2, so I will keep an eye on any new simulations.

Best regards,

Jan.

That’s right, of course we should take a look at that when its available. So far not yet produced. Hopefully soon, since the backward RICH review is also coming up.

yes, I understand this, but to my knowledge Ralf actually requested min-bias pythia-6 samples, which should have no Q2 cut and also the correct cross section.

Cheers elke

Hi Elke,

Your points were not forgotten.

The reason Jan put the Q2>1 label is because the PYTHIA 8 DIS events were generated with Q2>1 from the simulation campaign. It’s the same if we cut on it or not. However, at least the label will not mislead people to Q2>0, for example.

Hope this clarifies.

Thanks!

Dear Jan, All,

a comment i make often for finding the scattered electron you cannot make any kinematic cuts, I might mis understand the plots, but it looks to me the ratios of e/pi have been formed for a Q2>1 GeV sample, all nice but if the pfRICH should contribute to the pi/e separation you cannot do this.

Cheers elke

  Dear All,

let's have a pfRICH meeting this Wednesday @ 10am NY time:

The main topic on the agenda is work planning and preparations to the March review, which is now only two months away. We also need to come up with a message to the GD/I meeting Monday next week, where the "status" part can perhaps be based on my talk at the ePIC Collaboration meeting at JLAB two weeks ago, see attached, but the "planning" part needs to be formulated new.

  Regards,

    Alexander.
