  Dear All,

Please we need to discuss this, and provide Beni with a more definitive feedback.

Samo: in case of Belle II, did you require at least some moderate clean space requirements like class 10000, for the assembly process?

Do we absolutely need this space in 1006 or it can be elsewhere at BNL (like in 510D)? In other words, do we believe the detector can be assembled and fully tested in 510D, and then safely transported to IP6 (with the HRPPDs installed)? If so, I guess the aerogel plane can be assembled in a clean area in IP6, separately, and be inserted in the vessel at a very last moment, perhaps in a clean room over there (requires taking the front plate off and putting it back on, which sounds like a minor complication to me).

Concerning the assembly in general, is there any benefit (possibility) of a partial pre-assembly at a non-BNL location (say Stony Brook) or everything is supposed to be done at BNL, including mounting the mirrors and the bare sensor plate?

  Regards,
     Alexander.

Hi All,
Since I have not received any information about expected space requirements at BNL I did it myself
based on my limited knowledge and assumptons.
Below you see what I quoted that each of the PID detectors might need.

dRICH
space size: ~360 ft2 high celing 18ft larger doors
space requirements: Clean room needed for full assembly with mirrors in particular. high ceiling is needed due to size of full detector (~4m diameter) access with lifting gantry capable of 2.5 metric tons max. (detector wight expected to be 2 metric tons.) AC power and internet connectivity.
time line: 12 month prior to installation in the Hall
purpose: assembly detector and testing for installation in the HALL

hpDIRC
space size: ~360 ft2 large doors modules are 12 feet long
space requirements: Normal lab space with power outlets and ethernet connectivity, Nitrogen gas supply (at atmospheric pressure)
time line: 9-12 month prior to installation in the Hall
purpose: testing and preparation for installation in the HALL

pfRICH
space size: ~300 ft2
space requirements: Normal lab space with power outlets and ethernet connectivity, Nitrogen gas supply (at atmospheric pressure)
time line: 6 month prior to installation in the Hall
purpose: testing and preparation for installation in the HALL

cheers,
Beni
