  Dear Kong, Sean, All,

It is nice to see that we are getting a better control over the measurement procedure, and more consistency in the results, in general. Hope with a small upgrade of the BNL apparatus we are planning to do in the coming weeks, we can secure this achievement,  with a better control of systematics, and with the added benefit of angular dependency measurements as well.

  Cheers,
    Alexander.

Dear Alex, all,

I was planning to show this set of slides for the mirror reflectivity test today,

https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1txmQlj_4_saS3z1j63L1lmqj-awYylWZNEbi5NBV45E/edit?usp=sharing

So, let me post it here for everyone and the slides should be self-explanatory. Let us know if there’s any question or comment.

My conclusion so far:

  • When there’s another opportunity, we should try to finish this controlled experiment on the deposition (thin vs thick Cr) and time we leave the sample in the chamber (0 vs 24h).
  • So far, the best mirror we have made is evaporation #7 (thin Cr, thin Al, and left the sample in the chamber for 24h).

From SBU, I think Bill mentioned that we should ask for (push for) the real deposition measurement and calibrate our understanding on the thickness.

From BNL, we are going to improve our mirror test stand in the next few weeks. When finished, I plan to re-measure everything again in a systematic way.

Sorry I couldn’t join last week due to the STAR collaboration meeting. If anything that expects from me, please let me know.

Thank you.

Kong

Subject: [Eic-projdet-pfrich-l] Cancelled -- Engineering/Design Meeting -- 25 Mar 2024

Good morning,

I am not feeling well today, and Alexander will not be available to run the meeting for me today, so I need to cancel today’s meeting. If there are any substantial updates that anyone would like to share, please send them to the mailing list.

Apologies for the late notice.

Thanks,

Alex
