Thanks to everyone who contributed to getting the calorimeters built and set up at Fermilab, and to the knowledge we gained in the previous beam test, now close to publication, we have now gotten through our safety review ("ORR") and can now turn on in the beam:
Thu 2017-01-19 21:27:13 ORC Daniel Johnson (d_johnson)
We have an approved ORC for experiment T1044 (sPHENIX Calorimetry Tests) to
run in the Meson Test beam line. They may begin operation when they are
ready and beam is available.
Thanks particularly to Steve Boose, Chris Pontieri, and Frank Toldo, who have spent the week here getting us set up on the MTEST beamline.
The first and second septa repair seem to have been successful, and they have been running beam to the switchyard, so we think we are ready to go.

I'll have some more technical discussion of how we proceed in a separate mail, but again thanks to everyone here and here in spirit. I hope to revive the 9:30am "standup" next week after we finish the first round of setup with beam over the weekend.
