Dear friends,

I'm sorry that I couldn't join the meeting on Friday. I have looked at the tracking slides and have a couple of questions.

1) When was the decision made to decrease the TPC readout planes from 60 to 40? What was the driver for this? I am concerned that this change will cause the possibility of PID with the TPC to go from difficult to impossible. Was this discussed?

2) When thinking about alternative approaches to tracking, how about looking into the software used for STAR? After all, they are already doing tracking with a TPC plus MAPS detectors, with an intermediate silicon layer! I suggest asking our collaborators from STAR to make a presentation about how they do it, and their thoughts about adapting their software for sPHENIX.
