Hi all
The final URL is

The panel is 3:30 Sunday. Please consider advertising among undergraduates - perhaps a good way to get them excited about research!
Greetings,
Dr. Christine Nattrass

Dear collaborators,
Everybody is familiar with BNL Summer Sundays, the annual
open-to-the-public tours of research at the Lab.
For obvious reasons, this year's event will be conducted differently.
For one thing – pandemic. For another – RHIC is currently running and
posted as a controlled area. Not exactly ideal conditions for public
tours. Instead BNL is planning a fully online event with a video
followed by a live question and answer panel. It sounds a bit like an
online version of the very popular BNL PubSci events. Could be fun.
We were contacted by BNL's Summer Sunday organizer, Kahille Dorsinvil,
to identify someone to represent sPHENIX on the panel.
I'd be happy to do this myself – consider that the default option – but
I'd also be happy to hand this over to an interested volunteer from the
collaboration. I've included more information below from Kahille about
the plans for the event and what they're looking for in a panelist.
Drop me an email if you'd be interested.
Regards,
Dave

We plan to host a live question and answer discussion type of panel to
give people a chance to meet BNL scientists (DPN: clarified with Kahille
that it doesn't have to be BNL scientists specifically). The Q&A will be
a bluejeans meeting livestreamed to BNL social media channels
immediately after a short (approx. 15 min) video tour of RHIC is shown.
It is scheduled for Sunday, Aug 30th from 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
The video tour and the corresponding Q&A will cover topics that a basic
tour would and includes the sPHENIX detector.
We are looking for panel volunteers who are comfortable with the
communication medium (i.e. video meeting livestreamed to social media
channels), are available and willing to participate, and can talk about
the topic in common language.
Additional details about the Q&A:
This is supposed to be an enjoyable live Q&A session with five panelists
and a moderator.
The video it follows is aimed at early high school level.
The moderator will introduce the participants and ask scripted questions.
The scripted questions are in True/False format and the viewing audience
will have a chance to answer in chat.
There will be another person who will prescreen questions from the live
audience and send them to the moderator to ask the panel as appropriate.
The moderator will be able to interact with the panel for example to
clarify questions.
Participants don’t need to be at BNL, just need to be able to join a
bluejeans meeting with a webcam.
There will be two planning meetings– a short one to review the flow of
the Q&A and a brief dry run on the previous Friday to test the
technical setup and resolve any issues.
