Hi,

Thanks, Paul !   Paul has placed a folder called “Babar P.S. Manual” with 25 pdf files (all multiple pages) in the Babar disk server

\\bnl.gov\c-adnas\babar

Tom Tallerico also has put some pictures of the shipment into the folder: “picures of equipment from SLAC over  by Fred K”

For people using the MAC computer, the address to get to the above server is  :

smb://c-adnas04.c-ad.bnl.gov/babar

Subject: Manuals into Babar Server

Greetings gentlemen,

I have just placed the first manual (“Babar Power Supply”) into the Babar server for your viewing pleasure. I am committed to getting all applicable documents into this server in a timely manner. I hope to have 5 more manuals inputed by Monday afternoon.

The existing server index that was pre-arranged by others with folders for files to be placed in, does not always match the names/numbers of the 3 ring binders, etc. that is ready to be scanned. For example the power supply manual doesn’t match the index numbers. This is not a problem because, as we go, eventually we will make the best index to match the documents and their categories.

I will also try to ensure that the scanned material is entered with quality control in mind. I am reviewing the scans so that nothing gets missed or mixed up. This is extra time well spent. Keep in mind that, especially some of the instrument drawings, were given to us in reduced form with blurred details and are difficult to read. The mechanical drawings were given to us full size with excellent quality. It’s not a perfect world and we’ll have to work through this. I would gladly take a trip to Milan, Italy and visit the Ansaldo archive lockers where the electrical/instrument full size drawings may still exist. Take up a collection for me….HA HA. If found, this would eliminate some of my headaches as well as yours.

Regards,

Paul
