Hi,

After today’s meeting, Roberto and I have discussed about the minimal and idealistic schedule for the low-field test and drafted a timeline.

Below is the schedule that I’ve just received from Roberto.  He’s changed the definition of t0 a bit (compared to what

I called t0 in our discussion) but the following is basically along the line that we’ve discussed (with a lot of details added).

( I’ve taken liberty to change/correct the  blue “Phase 3” at the top to “Phase C”. )

Roberto just draws an ideal plan/scenario for 28 days (4 weeks) if everything works …

COLORED CODED

PHASE A  BLACK: PRE ERL CRYO SHUTDOWN SEPT 23 thru Oct 30 PLUS float till Cryo spools arrive

PHASE B      RED: DURING ERL CRYO SHUTDOWN 10 DAYS

PHASE C    BLUE: 4.5K COLD TEST 18 DAYS

CRYO MECHANICAL

PHASE A, PRE ERL SHUTDOWN SEPT 23 thru Oct 30 PLUS float till Cryo spools arrive.

LINE 1: Warm helium supply from ERL HP clean gas to new LN2 Helium Gas cooler CLPB240-GC.

1a. Tap 1 inch SS tube from HP helium tap [already in, Pete installed it for me]

1b. 1 inch SS tube run from tap to flowmeter run

1b. FLOWMETER FT3333H STRAIGHT SECTION: approximately 4 ft before and after, total 8 ft length of 1.5 inch NPS sch 10 pipe with adaptors to 1 inch tubing.

1c. Inline Filter. Need to order

1d. Ball valves, H3601M and H3624M. Need to order

1e. Pressure Regulator. Our 2nd high flow regulator

1f.  1 inch SS tube to LN2 Helium Gas Cooler CLPB240-GC helium inlet

LINE 2.  1 inch SS tube run from regulator to sPHENIX valvebox H3611A [CV01]. Needs compression fittings and adaptors

LINE 3. Shield return 1 inch SS tube run back the 4 inch compressor suction line[ location the manifold above the subcooler]

This line will return cold gas, so need extra length to warmup the gas. During cooldown the manual bypass is open.

Once shield is cold and operational the MKS mass flowcontroller will control.

So this MKS flowcontroller/bypass assembly will be at the far end of the line to see room temperature gas.

3a. Valvebox to HX 3617A [CV07] to manual ball valve bypass H3606M: 1inch tubing

3b. Bypass ball valve / MKS flowcontroller

3c. Return to tree manifold of the ERL 4 inch return line” 1 inch tube. Ball valve install.

LINE 4. GN2 VENT from CLPB240-GC to outside of building. We can tee this into the line used for the LR1430 coldbox GN2 vent. Use 1inch tubing

LN2 VJ LINES INSTALL

Weld up LN2 bayonet vacuum jacket cap with fitting to interface to LN VJ line

Install LN2 Bayonet

Install 40 ft LN2-VJ flex line from LN2 Bayonet tap to from CLPB240-GC LN2 dewar helium cooler

Install 20 ft LN2-VJ flex line from CLPB240-GC LN2 dewar helium cooler outlet to New supply Spool VJ tap.

FIELD JOINT PREP

1 DAY SCAFFOLD EVALUTION AND PREP for FIELD JOINT AT ERL VJR TAPS

1 DAY Setup scaffold

WARM PIPING INSTALL

From source to concrete blocks platform top.

VALVEBOX WORK WHEN VALVEBOX IS INSTALLED ON TOP OF PLATFORM

Finish piping connection for warm piping

Install relief header assembly WITH QUENCH DUMP VALVE

Pressure test warm piping.

VACUUM PUMP INSTALLATION:

Mount turbos to valvebox flange with tee.

Connect Rotary vane pumps to turbos.

2 DAYS. Set and weld field joints and pressure and leak check.

1 DAY. Weld vacuum jacket and prep for leak check. Pumpdown overnight

1 DAY: Mass spec leak check. Helium line and vacuum jacket welds. Install Coax VJ into new bayonets  taps spools and roll up onto concrete platform

1 DAY: ASSRC/ LESHC-PCSS WALKTHRU

1 DAY: ACTION ITEMS ASSRC/ LESHC-PCSS WALKTHRU
