1. In the meeting, I
quickly looked at the price list that Piyush provided if we need
to replicate his system. 2. Nevertheless, Zeynep Altinbas (Control-Group of C-AD) told us that we've got some quench detector system and racks/chasses from ERL that we can use, which is FREE to us. The quench detector system is said to be compatible with Piyush's (Labview) software. In addition, she and her group have decided to use the VME system because (i) it'll easily provide event link information which can be easily connected/logged in the C-AD Control system; (ii) it's a waste of money just to build another PXIe system for the High-Field Test and then thrown away. The VME system that Zeynep's group is going to build can be used for the future sPHENIX operation in Bldg. 1008. Zeynep told us that the software group of the C-AD Control Group will need to write the software/driver for the above system. The rack/chasses are free but each 6U VME board (16-bit) may cost $5K each. 3. We've discussed again about the strain gauge system. Piyush told us that that DAQ system is really old and he'll need to disassembly them for other purposes. So, after some discussion, it's decided that Zeynep's group will build another VME board which has to be 24 bit this time and it may be more than $5K (as it's 24-bit). Piyush/Paul Giannotti will send strain-gauge readout system specifications to Zeynep. 4. Carl Schultheiss (of C-AD) informed us that the ~20 isolation modules would cost $16K. Piyush pointed out that some channels can be shared and so the total price shouldn't as much. 5. D. Phillips told us about the work that has been done to build the return yoke for the High-Field Test, which is ongoing. He doesn't think that Dec. 15, 2016 is realistic as C-AD personnel will be busy working for other projects which have higher priority and there won't be people around to help us build the return yoke. He'll try to work with his Microsoft Project to figure out the more realistic schedule and let us know in 4 weeks. Dave said that Jon Hock is working on the final design of the return yoke and they will have a review on May 2 or 6 (Don Lynch's preferences). Dave hopes that the Magnet can be disconnected before May 6, 2016. We're asking whether Ray Ceruti/Mike Anerella can disconnect the Valve Box from the junction box/Magnet. |
