Hi Paul Giannotti,

I can't find you on the phone ... and so I use email again ...

Carl Schultheiss was just in my office and I showed him (and essentially "forced him" to look at) your cable specification, he wondered whether those
PVC jacket can deal with cold temperature ??!!!

At the bottom of the cable specification that you've sent, it said:

"Temperature range of -35 ° C to + 105 ° C (SR-PVC) and -30 ° C to + 105 ° C (PVC)"

Those cables go through the Extension and though they're not at 4K, they're in the insulating vacuum outside the superconducting bus or so ..., they
must be very cold,
much lower than -35 ° C ?!

Carl said maybe TEFZEL stuff can be used ... ??

Hi Kin,

Yes. I met with the Cryo guys (Tom Tallerico, Len Masi, and Rich Meyer) last week. We decided on a 20 conductor, 22AWG, overall foil shield, PVC jacket cable made by Alpha Wire. See attached manufacturer’s data sheet. They have enough cable in their in house BNL inventory to cover the required extension cables needed to be made. This will involve soldering the ends to new D connectors.

Regards,
Paul
