Hi, Ray,

The magnet/cryostat has been safely moved to the yellow frame in a corner of 912 (near the doors).  The top half of the yellow frame is not installed.

Can you please install the brace support (that Paul Kovach designed and you have got from the Central Shop ... plus screws and some hardware you purchased
laster) on the magnet as we/you have planned ?

Please let David Phillips/Brian Strechbach knows if you need any lift or whatever.

Kin

After reviewing the completed crane PMs (performed 11/6/2019) and walking down the area, with no objections, I have signed the Critical Lift Package.

Unless any issues develop, the lift is expected to be performed this afternoon (11/8/2019).

Thank you for your timely review.

Subject: Critical Lift for the sPHENIX Cryostat

CA-D is requesting permission to perform a Critical Lift for the sPHENIX Cryostat (BABAR Magnet) from the test facility (Building 912) back into its shipping cradle (Building 912).

The magnet was moved from its cradle to the test facility in June 2017 (see photos).  There was a modification to the system, an extension was added to support the valve box assembly (valve box assembly removed prior to lift).  There is a slight change to weight and center of gravity (c.g.).  The procedure will allow adjustment of the slings if needed to accommodate any c.g. shift.

Superconducting Magnet Division has performed and analysis and the stresses to the extension during this move are expected to be well within acceptable stress levels.

(Note: during transport, a bracing system will be installed)

The plan is to move the magnet early next week.  Prior to the lift, the PIC will verify that all inspections/maintenance to the 912 crane have been performed and documented.

Therefore, CA-D would appreciate concurrence as soon as possible.

If possible, please review the procedure and provide comments to me by tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you for your support.
