Hi,

 

Thanks a lot to Arthur for installing the “acnlinb1” computer in the sPHENIX Control Room, this afternoon.

After some struggles, both the LCD on the desk and the (8-year old Sharp) TV now works with the Dell PC which we use to get access to

the C-AD Control System.  { This PC uses Dell Display Port and miniport.   Somehow the LCD wants to go through the miniport but the TV

--- with HDMI on its end --- wants to go directly into the Display Port.  Somehow our first trials were always wrong.  }

 

We’ll use this PC in the Control Room to ramp up the power supply/magnet if/when we want.

Your system is ready. Please keep the old acnlinb1 unplugged. Can you please send me the BNL # of the old system.

Do you have Dell Display cables (DP standard) ?

How many displays do you plan to configure? Please make sure the length of the DP is adequate.

I chatted with you yesterday when you passed by my office.  But we didn’t discuss a “date” for completion.

I just chatted my sPHENIX colleagues and they kind of asked me.

This PC probably hasn’t been touched since ~2016.   It should be replaced 😊

 

• Is the system primarily used as a comfort display? 

 

Yes.   As I said, it’s used to use Pet pages (to control the magnet ramping), GPM to view intensities, luminosities etc. in the Control System.

A bit similar to MCR but probably less aggressive as the sPHENIX users mostly use it to view and they’re NOT experts like operators in MCR --- MCR operators tend to change this or that and do complicated analyses at regular basis … which won’t happen for sPHENIX control room users.

I checked the system in 1008. Thanks for John's help.

It is a legacy Procession 390.
I would like to replace the system.

Is the system primarily used as a comfort display?
