Hi,

  1. I have to say that the ingenious solution of blowing compressed air to the fan --- from Chintan et. al. --- also solves our problem of powering the fan.  So now, we don't need to worry about how to power the fan 🙂
  1. Since the CERN Team have got a SDCC account (that allow them to connect to cssh.sdcc.bnl.gov and then ssh to their rasberry computer in the IR), the CERN team has left sPHENIX and gone back to their hotel.  Just after a day or two, they made the mapper (etc.) work automatically (which also control the noisy pneumatic system), it's quite impressive.  Now, since it's automatic and can be remotely controlled, they can do so in their hotel.

  2. So, right now, we are doing a 10-hour mapping which started around noon.  It should end at 10 pm or so.   I'll ramp down the magnet.  Tomorrow morning, Frank Toldo and his colleagues will open the pole-tip door.   CERN Team would go inside the Magnet to replace the bad probe(s) and then we'll close the pole-tip door for further mapping ....

Hello,

Not sure whether everybody us aware (see picture attached) :

(1) we expanded the box covering the current leads;

(2) Chintan et. al. (Cryo) has added a tube with holes at the bottom blowing compressed (dry due to filter) to the fan.  The power to the fan was unplugged and the fan rotates due to the dry air blown.  It seems to work well to me.  At least, the moisture was not around the small helium pipes (with ceramic breaks).

The picture that I took was taken by me 15 minutes ago or so.

Kin
