Hi Ming,

I think you might have already seen this (and it does not directly answer your question) but probably not everyone has. ALICE presented a test of the IB wirebonds in a magnetic field in their stave PRR (slides 25-26):

https://indico.cern.ch/event/631636/contributions/2553690/attachments/1447763/2236573/MKeil_IBCharacterisation-2.pdf

For those without access to the slides, this is the summary:

Setup and Procedure:
* Chip placed in 0.5 T magnetic field with bond wires parallel to B-field
* Digital injections into 1024 pixels (3-4 times max. occupancy expected in L0)
* Scan of trigger frequency between 40 kHz and 400 kHz

Observations:
* Chip kept working throughout (and after) test
* Monitoring of bond wires with USB microscope did not reveal any movement of the bond wires

Dear Miguel and Leo,

Do you know the resonance frequencies of MAPS wire bond? Although it was
argued that it is not an issue for ALICE ITS, I think sPHENIX should
reconsider this carefully since we are going to operate at lower trigger rate
~15kHz, compared to ALICE?s 50kHz/Continuous readout(~100kHz).

For the previous PHENIX pixel detector, the resonance frequencies range from
5~12 kHz, see the slides sent out by Eric.

Cheers,

Ming

Dear Ming,

Please find attached a presentation and report about the encapsulation study
that I did with Leo,

best regards,

Miguel

Hi Eric,
Thanks for the link.
Leo - you mentioned there is an ALICE document on this, could you send it if
available?

There was discussion today on the vibration of wire bonds in a magnetic field as a
result of pulsed signals. Here is a link to the PHENIX VTX study that concluded the
need to encapsulate the VTX pixle/strip-pixel/FVTX wire bonds. I think I posted it on a
"public" page that everyone can access, if you have problems let me know,

The summary presentation:

I am still searching for additional information/presentations and will post
if found.
