Hi Ming and Ed,

When we build STAR vertex detector, HFT, (also built in LBNL and transported to BNL), we have had a small "clean room" tent set in the assembly hall area of STAR. It was meant for the same. And I think it worked well. There was enough room, that even when STAR detector was rolled back to the assembly hall, this clean tent was not disturbed.

Can we have a similar arrangement in sPHENIX assembly area ?

best, Grazyna

    Hi Ming,
You are bringing up an important issue. We would have to identify
the space at BNL to do this kind of rework. My best knowledge is that
there aren't any unoccupied clean rooms at BNL. If we think that
we might need one for the MVTX we need to do a little planning
    ahead of time. Thanks.

Hi Grazyna, Camelia, Yuan, Jo and all,

One topic that I didn’t get time to bring up for discussion at today's meeting, and like to ask you all to think about:
  - what if we need to re-work on the assembled detector at BNL? Will we be ready?

From ALICE experience (see the following email), ITS has to rework on the detector assembly several times during the surface commissioning and also at installation.
Well they have labs at CERN so it was not a big challenge, it could be different for MVTX.

My concern is that whether we can do the similar work  at BNL - open up the detector and replaced faulty components, could be cables or sensors etc.

Our current plan is to ship the fully tested MVTX half-detectors to BNL early 2022, and we will have several months of time doing pre-installation commissioning, and hope nothing bad happens to the MVTX detectors. BUT, we need to be prepared for the worst, so my question is:
      - should we also ship all the assembly fixtures to BNL and setup a clean tent so that we can rework on the half-detectors if needed? Or we send the detector back to LBNL  to fix?
    - do the current assembly fixtures and procedure allow us to do such operation at BNL?

Cheers,
Ming
