Minutes shift change 2023-05-11

general
—————
- sweep may happen tonight
- if so, we want to turn the bias for our silicon detectors off overnight (MVTX, INTT, EMCal) to keep them safe (HCal should be fine to be left on if cosmics data taking works

- 8:30am tomorrow:  PLC download (for TPC cooling/gas panel in IR)
  - this should not affect anything b/c we have bypasses
  - but if the bypasses fail, it will crash power to the carriage
  - don’t turn off any racks!

- approvals
  - IRR has approved
  - two steps missing:  Mike Clancy and BHSO
  - Haiyan thinks this maybe done by Wednesday

- work coordination
  - 4 sEPD power cables have been run
  - waiting for interlock cables from Steve Boose
  - also waiting to have cable pullers pull one cable for Kin

evening (Raghav)
- smooth, 3B5 high temp alarm (NIM bin added to rack)

night (Brennan)
- quiet

Day (Ben)
- nothing

MBD (Mickey)
- installed NIM bin in rack; temperature increased from 78-81, alarm threshold adjusted
- traced one channel that was misreading to bad cable, replacing

HCAL (Virginia)
- yesterday:  put in old clock master, tested, wasn’t working, Dan gave us his, put in, working
- investigating DAQ issues where it was getting stuck on one side, somewhat miraculously fixed
- but recently rc_daq server dying on SEB16; investigating

TPOT (Hugo)
- nothing

TPC (Tom)
- discovered yesterday:  HV cable no longer reaching to TPC in terms of delivering voltage
- had been tested previously:  just before INTT installation, i.e. day before IRR review
- detailed info:  all cables terminate in low resistor, you can tell whether you are reaching destination (by current), ground connected, but no lead,  various tests done, pulled connector at rack end off, not there, using borescope looked at everything at bore, visually everything looks fine, sent signal, reflection after 15 m instead of 20 m (good cable), indicating lack of connection is in middle of cable instead of in bore
- effect:  disaster: no South side of TPC without this one cable
- trying to invent ways to connect cable at TPC
- also plan to run spare cable to bore (need multiple spares)

- John K and Jin:  testing last night:  throughput
- all FEEs ran for 8 h without trouble

INTT (Rachid)
- trained shift crew to operate LV and bias, will continue through end of week
- during night experts will take pedestal and calibration runs, making plots for online monitoring, mapping, hit maps, scripts for pedestal runs
- plan:  next week shift crews will take pedestal runs

MVTX (Cameron)
- mainframe flashed power fail, got 2nd device from CAEN, on ground: no issue, in rack:  same problem,
plugged into outlet outside rack: no power fail, in contact with CAEN:  power fail light sensitive to frequency,
in meantime possibly able to run again,
- power phase work: one phase 2 V low, swapped MVTX run to different phase; MVTX mainframe problem persisted

sEPD nothing

DAQ (Martin)
- yesterday moved attention to EMCal
  - always one (random) of 8 servers doesn’t start
  - need to increase probability of succeeding dramatically
  - problem lies between XMIT and DCM2
  - issue is:  getting no events at all
- changed startup that allows you to configure DAQ from any machine (don’t have to log in to machine anymore):  system D

ZDC
- tied in rack to power
