Minutes shift change 2023-05-13
general
—————
- 9 o’clock meeting:
- collisions two days delayed -> Friday morning +/- 2 days
- STAR needs 14 h access Tuesday to fix TPC
- mice still a problem; Kin sent email
evening (Raghav)
- few issues during sweep
- closed plug door, debris around
- Jen saw EMCal cooling box open
night (Brennan)
- mostly uneventful
- got call in middle of night about beam
- called MVTX expert just to confirm
- INTT interlocks
- Rob Pisani: monitor from ignition, not from DO -> remove from shift log
request
Day (Ben)
- 8:00 switched to controlled, then restricted access (key tree enabled also
in restricted access)
- mouse
MBD (Abdul)
- initial setting done , HV off until beam better understood
- thermocouple 4/28 done, will need help from electrician -> Monday
HCAL (Virginia)
- nothing new
EMCal (John)
- taking data, only one crate, used to have problems, no problems today
- work on bias
TPOT (Hugo)
- thanks for John H to create elog
- missing one HV board in mainframe (lost in monitoring)
- TPC work in same rack
- probably just have to power cycle mainframe -> John K will power cycle
- Hugo will be at BNL starting Monday 8:00am
TPC (John K)
- investigating channels with higher noise to look for pigtail damage
- weird problem with GTM reset last night, had to reset FEEs
- more details from Jin by email:
• TPC in 24hr operation with debugging, updates, and stress tests
• John K. is carrying out pulser tests on the GEM modules, on which new
noise source was identified with pedestal data by Thomas Marshall and Adi
Dash. https://sphenix-intra.sdcc.bnl.gov/WWW/elog/TPC/82
• There was a GTM interruption on Friday 17:18 during TPC pedestal runs.
The cause is unexplained from Run and DAQ Elogs. This sends TPC FEE and FELIX
to a partially stuck state. We have to recovered today by power cycling FELIX
and FEEs. https://sphenix-intra.sdcc.bnl.gov/WWW/elog/TPC/83
• GTM interruptions can be tremendously disruptive to TPC. In
multiple cases, they took several hours for recovery, as some of the logic
could get stuck and hard to identify the stuck state.
• The last few cases : May-12 5:18 PM (not sure what happened),
May-11 12:09PM (maybe GTM debug session), May-8 9:12PM (planned GTM firmware
update)
INTT nothing
MVTX nothing
sEPD nothing
DAQ (Martin)
- doing more starts and stops (with EMCal)
- got it to a place where it was working except for one random SEB at a time
not participating (see DAQ elog for details)
- taking data with everything: switched all busy’s on
- John H set up random trigger, TTL 100 ns long, 14 kHz
- plug into GTM input 1
ZDC (John H)
- checking coincidences, they appear (pulser, split)
