Hi,

We have had a meeting at 11 am.  If the Air Quality Index (AQI) goes above 150, they’ll turn off STAR Detector (except Magnet), just like last time and then turn off the HSSD for STAR.

At that time, they’ll turn off the HSSD for sPHENIX,  though sPHENIX can continue to operate, just like last time (~a couple weeks ago).

Kin

Good Morning Everyone,

I have just been notified that tomorrow the air quality index will go above 200.  Last time this occurred, we turned off the STAR and sPHENIX HSSD systems.  Since the HSSDs are a credited control for STAR, we need to power down the STAR detector (magnet can say on) if we turn off the HSSD system.  This does not need to happen at sPHENIX.

HSSD’s generally start causing issues when the AQI goes above 150.

We need to coordinate any response with Fire/Rescue.

A starting strawman based on the last time this occurred:

  1. Receive a call from Fire/Rescue that the HSSD’s in Building 1006 are at alarm level 2 (This is  when the particulate in the air is 60% of the tripping the system and setting off a false fire alarm).
  2. Make preparations to access 1006. (RA may make the best sense)
  3. STAR will turn off their detector and power down at the breaker panels like we did previously.
  4. CAS will apply their Operations Lockout Locks and tags.
  5. Sweep STAR. (assuming RA)
  6. Restore RHIC.

sPHENIX can be turned off when they want, without affecting anything.

I think we can make the call to restart STAR when the AQI goes back below 150.  According to Joe Levesque this is about when things cause problems.
