General (Stefan/Kin)

  • From Kin:  We had a meeting at 11 am.  If the Air Quality Index (AQI) goes above 150, they’ll turn off STAR Detector (except Magnet), just like last time and then turn off the HSSD for STAR.

  • At that time, they’ll turn off the HSSD for sPHENIX,  though sPHENIX can continue to operate, just like last time (~a couple weeks ago).

Current Priority Items (PC)

  • MBD sees shifting calibrations, priority  to get RevTick working

  • Push to re-test all ADC crates and DCM II readout to get all of Calo into big partition

  • Integrating TPOT, INTT and GL1 into big partition

  • Currently many runs stop at 10 minutes, and so need to  fix SEB stop  issue

  • MVTX background test with one beam (zero crossing angle - see below)

  • INTT z vertex

  • Provide close-to-real-time info on background (from MBD) close to beam pipe to CAD

  • Provide close-to-real-time MBD z vertex to CAD to enable continuous correction of z-vertex (John H, Mickey)

Work Control Coordinators (Chris/Joel)

  • AC shop to troubleshoot NW AHU  in the IR, we will need to lock out the IR crane next maintenance day. Coordination is in progress.

Note the crane needed to put sEPD bike rack up, etc.    Needs coordination…

Plan of the Day (Stefan/PC/all–to be revisited at end of meeting)

  • APEX ending at 9 pm, though right now not able to fill stores

  • Big partition integration effort after that - schedule?

  • End of store 5 am,

  • Needs discussion with  MVTX group to coordinate – could be around 1 pm,

→ plan  to ask MCR to steer for 0 crossing and then drop blue beam → need MVTX experts at the ready  to study  backgrounds.
→. What can also be checked with INTT (triggers?), MBD ?
Then  at the end of the store after that, same thing, steer for 0 crossing and drop yellow beam (only if MVTX experts available - otherwise next store)

=======================================================

Evening ()

  • Inherited 100 Hz running from day shift

  • 4:50 PM MCR steered us out of leveling for ZDC measurements

  • ZDC measurements taken

  • 7:10 PM Beam dumped

  • 7:45 Controlled Access to replace HCAL cable

  • 8:50 New Store

  • Jaebeom worked on GTM

  • 10:20 Experts done, ready to hand off to shift crews, everything working except SEB15 (L1)

Night (YA, Hideto, Abdullah )

  • DAQ development to include TPOT and INTT to big partition

  • TPOT has an issue → concentrate on including INTT to big partition

  • ~2:50 all 8 felix servers of INTT (INTT0 to INTT7) are successfully included in Big Partition. It runs >1M event (RUN200175)

  • But soon INTT1 becomes noisy, producing >3 time more packets → INTT1 removed.

  • ~3:40 DAQ work is done. DAQ is handed to shift crew.

  • HCAL, EMCAL(partial), ZDC, MBD and INTT(INTT1 removed)

But then we have a problem with SEB16 (half of HCAL). It refused to run.

~5:00 run without SEB16.

Many short runs (~300K events) for INTT timing study. Itaru provided the run plan.

~6:30 all requested runs for INTT are complete

~6:45 prepare for dump

~6:50 beam dumped

7AM start APEX

SUMMARY       INTT is successfully included into the Big Partition

Day (athira, maya, stacyann, bill)

  • APEX

  • There were several IR Humidity alarms (>60%) as a thunderstorm moved across the site.

  • S.L. managed to hang the Annunciator GIS. Could not kill it. Charles H helped by just starting another Annunciator process.

  • OHCal 31 trip ~14:20 - too much current. Experts fixed it quickly.

======================================================

Magnet (Kin)

  • Nothing new to report.

MBD (Mickey, Lameck, Abdull, Stacyann)

  • No new updates

Trigger (Dan)

  • All Calorimeter fibers are inserted and labeled.

  • Moved MBD Trigger to final configuration in LL1 Rack.

  • Starting to insert and program EMCAL and HCAL LL1 boards.

  • 2W2 and 2E2 are fully programmed with dual-boot ADC code.

  • 1W1 and 1W3 are ongoing programming.

GTM/GL1 (Martin/Dan/John K)

We can bring the GL1 into the BP (I will work on it tonight), in addition to more config logging that this opens up. We also undid the downgrade as a result.

  • We will enable the revtick setup by default.

DAQ (Martin/John H)

  • There is still the 262K event limit problem that I thought was behind us but came back. Trying to figure it out - I tried to hunt it down and ended with multiple runs with > 3 million events. If I don’t find it or can reproduce the information, I ask the shift crew to call me before ending the run so I can catch this in the act.

  • We want to decide if we move seb00 into the BP and I take seb01, which seems a lot more finicky.

MVTX ()

  • Apart from the discussion with CA-D, nothing new

  • Looking at 2-d plots of # of hits from different staves one sees a clear correlation

TPC (Tom Hemmick, Jin, Takao, Evgeny, Charles, Thomas, Adi)

  • With the spark signals observed yesterday, we were able to determine all the parameters on the spark detection board. The board production includes PCB production and assembly. We have sent RFQ to two companies today. We will know the time estimate of production soon.

  • First four spark pick-up boards (voltage divider) will be ready to install in IR together with the controller PC box. They will be installed in the TPC HV rack

  • We would like to request 2-hr access on Friday 06.30. It is essential to install on Friday so that we can confirm the spark detection scheme as whole works with the TPC.

HCal ()

  • Swapped ohcal cable 0-1 and 0-2 at the sector end

  • Switched to spare for cable 0-1

  • Took LED and test pulse runs after the HCal reprograming this morning, seems okay

EMCal ()

  • Dedicated pedestal scans with various power configurations successful. Data is being evaluated and will inform potential rack work during next maintenance day

  • Nothing else to report

TPOT (Hugo)

  • Mishap last night when trying to include TPOT in big partition

  • TPOT lost one link, Hugo did not answer the phone (no battery).

  • Should try again either this evening (with John K.) or tomorrow (John K., Hugo)

  • Nothing else to report

INTT (Maya)

  • With Jaebeom’s help, INTT could be in the big partition and Jeain, Raul, Yasuyuki and Hideto suceeded to take some data for timing scan. Now INTT is in the big partition except intt1 which sent  a lot of empty data which is know issue and Raul is working on (disabling the sending setup of the suspicious calibration signal in the framework on Felix).

  • Raul continues working on clock alignment between Felix boards

sEPD(Rosi)

  • SiPM box parts continue to arrive

  • South side to be installed July 5th

  • Electronics on July 19

Gas/Cooling (from Rob Pisani via email / Kin)

  • Rob: Just got word back from Aaron,  we have 2 bottles left as reserve.  We have 8 bottles on the bank now which typically lasts 2 weeks.  We are too close to running out for my comfort.  I sent a message to our buyer that we are critically low.

  • Kin : After Rob’s email, I talked with the buyer who talked with the vendor.  The vendor got past the “customs” problem and it’s a matter of filling / shipping and the vendor has promised to put us as the top priority.   Even they may not give us all 10 or 20 bottles, they’ll try to send us something Thursday/Friday.

ZDC (Peter)

  • Now have ZDC calibration data with crossing angle

  • Want to take data w/o crossing angle
