-->  Check out the very nice INTT vs MBD correlations below!

General (Stefan/Kin)

Current Priority Items (PC)

Work Control Coordinators (Chris/Joel)

Plan of the Day (Stefan/PC/all–to be revisited at end of meeting)

  • Exercise running BigPartition w/ EMCal, HCal, MBD, ZDC, TPOT, INTT, LL1, GL1

  • DAQ/electronics development when experts available
→ RevTick appears to be working (make sure to start a new run first before checking)
→ GL1 data reading out at much higher rate
→ Work to add in more of EMCal and check problem channels/fibers

  • Monday - priority in development over running BigPartition

  • →  INTT sync. Work on Monday  afternoon

  • Note Wednesday major access (see previous shift change minutes)

========================================================================

Evening (Brett Fadem [SL], , Aditya Prasad Dash [Daq Op], Lameck Mwibanda [Data Mon], Zhongling Ji [Det Op])

  • The evening shift inherited a store from the day shift.

  • Stopped our run early on so that the HCAL expert could adjust voltages.

  • Expected the store to get dumped within one or two hours but there was an unexpected beam dump around 5:45 pm.

  • New fill took until 10:15 pm.

  • John Haggerty put some finishing touches on preparations to hand the DAQ over to us.

  • Obtained MBD timing screen shots from two scope displays as instructed

  • First run after fill went fine

  • Couldn’t get the DAQ working for the second run.

Night (YA, H.Enyo, Abdullah)

  • Fill 33927. 107x107. Scheduled to dump @6:14

  • 0:00 DAQ operator of Evening shift told me that there was a DAQ problem and could not run.

  • I called John H, left a message.

  • 0:30  somehow the DAQ runs after setting trigger scale down to 0.

  • 0:50 Jaebeom called. He saw some issues on the DAQ and worked on it.

  • 1:15 Jaebeom called. He said  he had done. Gl1_daq is not running but it should be OK for the night. He started run20484 and it is running.

  • 1:25 stopped 20484 to practice start/stop.

  • 1:43 started 20487. Runs for 1 hour.

Continue running. Nominally about 1 hour each.

  • 6:14 MCR called. They will extend the fill since they are not ready for injection. Continue taking data.

  • 6:34   RHIC prepare for dump. Detectors to save mode.

  • Beam dump

  • Afterwards, RHIC has difficulty making a new fill.

Day (athira, maya, stacyann, bill)

  • Multiple attempts by MCR before finally getting a good fill at ~11am. Dump is scheduled for 19:10.

  • MBD timing adjustment unnecessary in this fill.

D.O. station CONTROLROOM1 froze. Rebooted (more than once). Firefox would not start, which is used for the MBD timing scope display. Crew found they could open it on the OPERATOR1 computer and display it on the CONTROLROOM1 monitor over VNC.

  • Many thanks to Abdullah who came back to the area to help!

Fix:  https://sphenix-intra.sdcc.bnl.gov/WWW/elog/MBD/90

Lost communication with the rc_server - fixed by Martin remotely.

Many IR humidity alarms during the afternoon.

Dan worked on the EMCal.

========================================================================

Magnet (Kin)

  • Nothing new to report.

MBD (Mickey, Lameck)

  • BBC/MBD phase 0 is stable now so far no adjustments.

Trigger (Dan)

GTM/GL1 (Martin/Dan/John K)

  • Please see https://sphenix-intra.sdcc.bnl.gov/WWW/elog/DAQ/223  (and 224) about the GL1 event counts  mysteries. Also, there are still a few peculiarities with the GL1DAQ machine that doesn’t always succeed in mounting the /bbox area (this was the reason for not logging data 24+hrs ago - another reason later was that the “rc_open” command had been removed from the revised setup script).

DAQ (Martin/John H)

  • Systematic tests on ADCs, XMITs, and DCM2s.

  • One xmit (Crate 1 Slot 4) is not sending data, (syncs with Kcode but no valid data marker)

  • One DCM2 FPGA with parity erors (FPGA3 on CrateC Slot 8 SEB06)

MVTX (Zhaozhong)

  • Will continue looking at the new MVTX data

  • Also cross check with MBD hit distributions vs beam crossing ID

TPC (Tom Hemmick, Jin, Takao, Evgeny, Charles, Nick, Tamas, David, Thomas Marshall, Adi)

  • 1st - Bob + John K. restore 5 diffuse laser heads + trigger board (access)

  • 2nd - Immediately after bore closure, test spark monitor installed yesterday

  • 3rd - After spark monitor test, start diffuse laser test

  • Require 5-6 hours with NO MAGNET + NO BEAM after bore closure

Continued Analysis of last week’s MAGNET ON + 100 Hz collision data

  • Evgeny presented good summary of work so far at Friday's Physics Coordination Meeting

  • Aditya also helping (re)analyze laser flash data

Please let us know if more local mode planned (not specifically requesting it)

  • (announcing it on mattermost is also fine)

HCal ()

HCal (Shuhang, Hanpu)

  • Hot tower problem in ihcal sector 17 fixed by power cycling the LV.

  • Hot towers in ihcal sector 12 remain(showed up again in run 20494), new hot towers in ihcal sector 1 showed up in run 20492, possibly related to the ADC board by looking at the waveform.

  • Massive HV tripped this morning, while storing the new beam.

EMCal ()

TPOT ()

INTT (Maya)

  • We plan to work on the synchronization of the 8 Felix boards on Monday.

  • We got the first correlation plots between INTT (intt4) and MBD.

  •

sEPD()

Gas/Cooling ()

ZDC ()

  • (From Friday, but PAS was off grid after) Toy model results of impact of crossing angle posted to ZDC elog. With 1mr half angle rotation,  we see 95% geometric containment but need simulation to understand impact of showers at the edge.

Background Counters ()

Online Monitoring (Chris)

  • Html output not up to date and has only MBD
