Commissioning and running of sPHENIX

Hello sPHENIX Collaborators,

Following up on the presentation in the GM last week:

I wanted to put out a friendly reminder for people to sign up for shifts for Run-2024.     We need people for 2-person watch shifts starting February 20, 2024 and then full 4-person watch shifts starting March 26, 2024.

Many institutions have clearly had coordination  meetings and signed up for all their shifts and with junior people matched with senior people, and coordinated requests for housing.      I would like to see all institutions do this coordination exercise and sign up in the next two weeks, i.e., by January 22, 2024 (getting at least 2/3 of your shift quota signed up for).    After that I will be reaching out to institutions below this threshold.    You can check your quota on the page above by clicking on the Institution link.    If your institution has significant travel restrictions that precludes sitting shifts, please contact the Co-SP and cc me.

Again, the shift quota is 2.5 shifts per person.    While this is covered by an institution as a whole, each individual should be signing up and effectively any author not sitting any shifts needs to find someone else at their institution to sit five!   Please contact me if you have questions.
