Hello sPHENIXians,

The final gold beam was dropped at 8:06 am on Monday, October 21, 2024.       It has been an amazing sPHENIX journey with enormous work just to have everything ready and back together for the start and then 27 cryo-weeks of commissioning and physics data taking.      Unbelievable hard work, smarts, grit and unwillingness to give up by so many people made this run a success.     We left nothing in the tank.   April 28 - October 21 is a long time!

We had a great end-of-run party (photos from John Haggerty linked https://photos.app.goo.gl/HPo6ThT1Wzy9BL2VA) with about 100 people from sPHENIX, C-AD, STAR, everyone...    All of C-AD did a great job with a big shout out to Kiel Hoch (!), C-AD Run Coordinator 2024.

There are so many people to highlight and thank!     THANK YOU ALL!

It has been a great journey and despite innumerable challenges, a great success.      In the coming weeks, I hope to provide additional summary slides that may be useful when analyzing the data.   I am excited to see the physics results from the proton-proton data set, and feel confident with the information gathered over the last three weeks of gold-gold collisions that we will be ready for the big gold-gold run in 2025.     Rosi Reed will be a great Run Coordinator 2025, and I promise all of my continued support.

Lastly, thank you for excellent leadership by our outgoing Period Coordinator Akitomo Enokizono (!) and welcome to our new and last Period Coordinator of Run 2024, Charles Hughes (picture below) -- there are important tests to be done during these two weeks of no-beam studies with watch shifts.    Welcome to our new watch shift crew (pictures below).

Signing off as Run Coordinator 2024.

Sincerely,

Jamie
