Hello,

After the call/email below,  Pat Loquet just called me back. He seemed to give me a problem that all x7815,7821,7834 have the same name “PHENIX Control Room”.  That’ll not work in the new digital age 😅

So, we call x7815, sPHENIX Control Room 1; x7821 sPHENIX Control Room 2; x7834 sPHENIX Conference Room and x8360 is called sPHENIX LR.

Pat said that he’ll send somebody to change the Cisco phone tomorrow or Wed.   Dec. 4 is the change date for the entire Lab.   If it’s not changed, people calling from outside BNL wouldn’t be able to reach

all these nos.  After the change, things will work normally as before but they’ll see “Teams desk phone” --- I don’t know what it looks like myself.

Hi,

I talked to Andrew Ferguson who told me to talk to Pat Loquet (whom I worked with in the past).   So, Pat said that he’ll look into it.  They’ll convert those x7815, x7821 … in Teams phone and set up Teams desktop phone --- real phones.

Just not the current Cisco one.   After Dec. 4, if still not changed, those Cisco phones will only receive calls from other Cisco phones. They will not receive calls from outside BNL.

PS: Sunday morning (Dec. 1), ITD’s security or something messed up and DNS in optimum or google’s DNS 8.8.8.8 or 1.1.1.1 all suddenly couldn’t resolve bnl.gov (www.bnl.gov or ssh.sdcc.bnl.gov etc.).  But 4.2.2.1/2… can or

Verizon can.  ( I’ve tested and told them --- ITD/security. )   I complained … James Fung and Andrew Ferguson contacted David Cortijo.  David fixed the problem and it went back to normal before 11 am.   Andrew also used

Optimum at home, which made it slightly easier for me to complain 😊
