Here is my current abstract for the MPGD-2019 proceedings that I'm working on. If I get a chance to look at the 2 conferences and modify it appropriately before tomorrow at... something pm (when is the meeting supposed to end?) I'll send that around.

"Space Charge (SC) distortions are some of the main issues for high-resolution Time Projection Chambers (TPC). The two main SC sources are those from primary ionizations and those that result from amplification stages. The gain stages are required to increase the electron (e^-) signal above electronics noise levels, but this inevitably creates extra ions, which can enter the drift region and distort the electric field, and hence the detector performance. We will present a brief motivation for our Ion Back Flow (IBF) studies along with explanations of existing techniques and our simulation results to reduce IBF. We propose several mesh structures along with static bipolar gating. Further, we discuss position distortions in e^- trajectories due to a static bipolar grid and use these distortions to compensate non-linear responses of our Zig-Zag pad readout."

Hi all,

we will have an abstract submission due date for QM2019 (http://qm2019.ccnu.edu.cn/) and DNP (https://dnp2019.columbian.gwu.edu/) on Monday, July 01, i.e., in about three days from now. I would like to ask anyone who wants to present (orally or poster) at either of these conferences on topics concerning the sPHENIX TPC to prepare an abstract and send it to this list. We will meet with the L2 level manager (Tom) and all L3 level managers tomorrow after the fortnightly meeting via BlueJeans and discuss which abstracts we should eventually submit to the conferences. Sorry for the late notice.

Cheers,

Klaus
