Hi all,

Prof. Hemmick told me to give writing a general TPC abstract for QM a shot, so here's a first draft.

The sPHENIX TPC

The sPHENIX experiment at RHIC is designed to be a state-of-the-art detector for exploring the microscopic structure of the QGP. sPHENIX’s tracking system will have high enough momentum resolution to perform quarkonium spectroscopy through reconstruction of the individual Υ(nS) states, measure fragmentation functions and jet substructure, and probe parton energy loss in the QGP. sPHENIX will achieve this resolution in part with a compact time-projection chamber covering 0≤ϕ≤2π in azimuth, and |η|1.1 in pseudorapidity. Through utilization of novel zig-zag readout pads, an optimized Ne-CF4 gas mixture, and the 1.4 T BaBar solenoid, the sPHENIX TPC will be a powerful tool for tracking of e+e- pairs and jets.

Let me know what you think or if you have any improvements!

Best,
Henry Klest

To clarify: please submit the abstracts to this list before the meeting of the L2 level manager (Tom) and all L3 level managers, i.e. at 2 PM.

Cheers,

Klaus

Hi all,

we will have an abstract submission due date for QM2019 (http://qm2019.ccnu.edu.cn/) and DNP (https://dnp2019.columbian.gwu.edu/) on Monday, July 01, i.e., in about three days from now. I would like to ask anyone who wants to present (orally or poster) at either of these conferences on topics concerning the sPHENIX TPC to prepare an abstract and send it to this list. We will meet with the L2 level manager (Tom) and all L3 level managers tomorrow after the fortnightly meeting via BlueJeans and discuss which abstracts we should eventually submit to the conferences. Sorry for the late notice.

Cheers,

Klaus
