for this part "... in a phase space different from that of particles of interest"
seems a bit incomplete, can you add something along why it's any good?

> Added "to avoid autocorrelations" after that.

"We report evidence of a possible CME signal"-->
how about: "We report measurement suggestive of CME signal"
or better: "We report CME signal with a significance of 3.4"

> Changed into "We report measurement suggestive of CME signal"
