0. Follow-up on Action items from previous weeks
1) Integration: send an email with detailed questions to the list to collect
information - Rahul/Felix
2) Document the procedure and requirements of gluing hybrids onto MS for Plan
A at NTU - Yi/Han-Sheng
3) Document the procedure and requirements of gluing hybrids onto MS for Plan
B by AIDC. This is needed before new hybrid production - Yi/Han-Sheng
-> work on Plan A now and put Plan B on hold
4) Document on how/where the company would measure the surface flatness and
being parallel between inner-outer sectors, before and after glueing hybrids
and inner-outer sectors together - Yi/Han-Sheng
5) Look into radiation tolerance test of soft cooling tubes at
BNL/STAR/Taiwan - Flemming/Yi
-> Flemming: need samples of tubes; Yi: may be able to do it in Taiwan. See
details below
6) Measuring hybrid flatness, thickness and dimensions - Maowu/Jianing
-> sent the 3 hybrids to the company
7) UIC send a T-board and cable to NCKU to check if there is any conflict
with the MS - Zhenyu
8) Looking into alternative clustering algorithm to improve matching
efficiency - Xu
9) Tune the timing setting for ADC sampling - Gerard/Xu
10) Studying the tracking performance by varying the Z-locations of FST
disks, and number of r/phi segments - Krishan/Daniel
11) Looking into FST simulation and track reconstruction to compare 300 vs
500 micron thick sensors - Shenghui
1. Integration
by Rahul Sharma/Felix Archampong
-> After last week’s presentation, Rahul and Felix discussed about next
steps, how to solve problems for installation. Felix has all the inputs and
working on the model, the details. Within the next couple of weeks, will have
2. Hybrid
by Maowu Nie, Jianing Dong
3. Prototype Module Assembly and Test by Xu Sun
-> tried “simple" and “scan” clustering algorithms from IST on FST. Matching
efficiency slightly decreased with “scan". Will check what works and what
not, to improve the “scan” algorithm
4. Tracking Studies by
Krishan Gopal, Daniel Brandenburg
-> will plot charge mis-ID rate
-> will repeat the same study on slide 5 but for other r segment setting
-> will study phi-segment
-> use calorimeter matching may help improving the resolution
5. Simulation Studies by
Shenghui Zhang
-> will compare Refit success rate between 300 and 500 micron
-> use PYTHIA, not Hijing, to study secondary particles and photon conversion
6. Mechanical structure by Yi
Yang
-> picked 3 out of 10 sets of MS for assembly. The other 7 is not flat by
eye. Measured 200 microns RMS of surface flatness for the picked sets. Will
find out the maximum deviation
-> the 1kG weight is from the pick-up jig, whose height is calculated taking
into account the thickness of the hybrid, MS etc. After loosing the vacuum,
the weight of the jig will be laid onto the MS+hybrid, to press them
together.
-> have connectors soldered on to hybrids. Will do electrical test as agreed
previously. Will look for male connectors to plug-unplug and repeat the test.
-> Testing of soft tubes seem to consistent with Vendor’s info. Look into
doing the radiation tests with Co-60 source, which might take 1-2 weeks to
get the full exposure.
