Zhenyu,

for sure making sure all is compliant with safety is a good idea, but I think I would start with a list of things we use and pass it on to the safety committee and ask they see any issues. I think we do not need a review. If there are issues we deal with it. I personally think there should be none.
Also this would be again more work on Rahul, and he is already overloaded.

Cheers elke

Dear all,

As the production starts ramping up, I think we should try to conduct a safety review asap to get pre-approval of components/materials that will be used in the detector module production soon. These would include all the materials to make the detector modules, especially Chroming used to coat the cooling tubes, glue/thermal grease used for hybrid/MS assembly at NCKU in the next few weeks. We can also include the materials used for APV/Silicon sensor assembly as well.

Shall we also include the other things, such as the T-board, cable, cooling tubes?

hi Zhenyu,
I believe someone from BNL from the project (Rahul? Flemming?) needs to consult with the appropriate safety officers to get advanced clearance of anything doubtful in the design, before production. This is how it went for instance with the custom cables used in IST and SSD - the cables were not official rated cables, rather only "by design similar" to such, and we submitted the documentation and samples _before_ detector production (but of course, after cable production, which was an investment that had to come first) for approval. The documents were examined, I believe at least one of the cables was given a burn test at BNL, and we got approval to use. Then in the safety review before installation we just referenced that approval and no problems. There was a similar pre=approval process for the Wiener MPOD power supplies, taken care of in the time of FGT detector construction.
Flemming could correct this, but I don't believe such actual safety approval is within the scope of this review or committee. But a plan to get approval where needed, must be.
Sincerely,

Gerard

I don’t know when the safety review will take place, but we certainly need the ES&H clearance before the actual production starts, because we can’t have all the modules produced and then learn some of them do not meet the requirement.
