Hi Gerard and Mike,

This reminds we need to check before installation all the grey cables we want to use.
Of the two grey cables we pulled on the south platform one had a connector issues.
We should device a proper testing plan with setup for the grey cable in physics and then start doing testing as filler job in the next few months. TSimilar testing should be done for the purple cables once we start producing them.

Hi Xu,
Ok, thanks for clarifying. I have no theory what is going on. I
hope that we don't see this problem on more cables.
Mike, I guess we should hi-pot the lines used for bias, to all
other lines. 200 VDC is probably a good test voltage. Current limiting
certainly should be done for such a test (10 uA or so is good. maybe
use one of them NIM wire chamber PS modules, if can be set to such a
low voltage? I am not sure.)
Or maybe we can hope you see something on visual inspection.

Hi Gerard,

So, after a little while power off, you reconnected GC26, saw no
issue at first (??) then set inner HV to 140 V and then there was this
noise issue and it remains after no matter what the HV is set to?
This one is what I observed.

Best,

Xu

immediately saw the issue, no matter what the HV is set to?
Sorry to be pedantic but there is something strange with this
problem and we may need more clues.
Thanks
Gerard

Hi Gerard,

Did you guys power cycle the readout system after the mysterious
noise appeared with GC26?
Yes, we have done it multiple times before we switch to GC13.

I wonder if power cycling might have fixed it or it was definitely
confirmed to be the cable GC26, e.g. you put that one back again and
problem appeared again even w/o bias?
To confirm the issue, I just re-connected the GC26 again, and the
issue appeared again. It will appear after inner HV ramp to 140V and
stays there no matter what the HV is.

On the T board fitting - is it going to be possible to fasten the
T board to mechanical structure with screws and nuts?
I believe it is possible to do that with proper nuts. But I don't
know what kind of nuts will be proper. And the outer hybrid will be
bend slightly since the T-board will be attached to the MS through
the nuts.

Best,

Xu

I can't recall that we ever had such a problem before. Please
inspect the pins on the connectors, though I guess you already have
done that and would have mentioned if one looked damaged.

I'm a little worried that moving the cable around as things get
installed may flex something and cause troubles.

Hi Mike,

My slides can be found in the following link:

We will need your help on the new purple cable test shown in slide 3
and gray cable issue discussed in slide 5.
Please let us know your comments.

Best,

Xu
