hi Yi,
Thanks for the better picture of the situation. How thick does this spacer "washer" have to be, and can we find such a thing in stock? (Or I guess we could have them made.) Anyway it looks like it would fit nicely (as far as the hybrid to T board connections
are concerned) if it was mounted by some spacers in roughly the position you are holding in the picture. So that is good and I think its a good plan; hopefully it won't be difficult to find the right spacers and use them. (Should they be glued to the T-board
perhaps, to make it easier to put things together?)
Gerard

Hi Zhenyu and Gerard,
I checked it again and I also noticed this conflict. It didn't happen last time, very strange.
I agree with your proposal #3 after talking to Maowu and Jinaning this afternoon.
Cheers,
Yi

hi Zhenyu, Yi,I suppose one could consider4. make clearance hole on mechanical structure (if this conflict is in an unimportant place??)Probably this is not the best plan but let's discuss. By the way are there any pictures clearly showing the conflict problem?
About PEEK screws, I think that if any of these small screws and nuts might be removed/installed with the detector on the mounting rails on STAR, we better use PEEK or other nonconductive material. This is to protect other parts of STAR (TPC, BEMC, TOF) in case anything is dropped. If it is decided the whole assembly comes down for any servicing e.g. to replace a T board, then they can just as well be metal screws. I'm not sure what the plan it. Hopefully all hardware up at the point of installation is large enough to see & handle easily, or is nonconductive.

Subject: [Star-fst-l] T-Board Assembly_______________________________________________Maowu, thanks for confirmation.
There might be one small issue. The screws of the connectors on the T-board seem to be a little bit too long, so that it creates a small conflict with the module peek mechanical structure (MS). See page 3 in Xu’s presentation from last week’s FST meeting [1]. It seems to me that one can still press the T-board to fasten with the MS through the four corner holes. But the T-board and/or the MS has a tiny bend. As this observation is not fully consistent with what Yi reported in [2], I have asked Yi to check again.
If the answer is yes, I see 3 options
1. Shorten the screws (I don’t think it is possible but Maowu please confirm)
2. Leave as is
3. Add a washer between T-board and MS
A related question for the group is whether we should use PEEK screws/nuts to use to fasten T-board onto MS, as pointed out in Yi’s slides. I don’t recall we have come to a conclusion at the meeting (?) but we should decide soon.
Please comment.
Thanks,
Zhenyu
